A flat wall with no skirting board taller than your baseboard clearance is the minimum, since this frame stands on the floor and must meet the plaster straight on for the anchor brackets to bite. You will level it first, then fix it, then load it: the sequence is printed on our sheet and the fittings are in the carton.
Once the five tiers are filled, the room gains vertical storage without the bulk of a cabinet. The instruction that cannot be skipped is the wall anchor before you set a single book down.
Anything here that stands on the floor with drawers, doors or shelves belongs anchored to the wall. The consumer safety commission launched its anchoring campaign in 2015 and reported ten years later that tip-over injuries and deaths had fallen by nearly half; the instruction behind that number is the one sentence above. An anchoring kit ships in the carton, the job takes about ten minutes with a drill and a stud finder, and it is the last step of the build rather than an optional extra.
What buyers say about this one
This bookshelf was the easiest thing I’ve ever put together. Every hole was aligned perfectly. All of the hardware was easy to use to install and the shelves look very realistic in their grain.
