A child climbs the left ladder and drops onto the lower mattress with knees tucked, or scales the right to claim the upper bunk as a fort. Two ladders mean the room does not have to commit to one wall. It is flat pack, so you carry the box through the door and build it where it will stay, white against whatever colour the walls already wear.
Once it stands, the space beneath becomes a cave for toys, or you slide a storage bin in to catch stray clothes. The room belongs to whoever is small enough to sit up straight on the top bunk without grazing the ceiling, and to the adult who moves the whole frame when the layout shifts.
Anything here that stands on the floor with drawers, doors or shelves belongs anchored to the wall. The consumer safety commission launched its anchoring campaign in 2015 and reported ten years later that tip-over injuries and deaths had fallen by nearly half; the instruction behind that number is the one sentence above. An anchoring kit ships in the carton, the job takes about ten minutes with a drill and a stud finder, and it is the last step of the build rather than an optional extra.
