A circle of 45 inches needs flat ground. Concrete slab, timber decking, or packed gravel all work, provided you leave ten feet clear on every side from walls, eaves, and planting that can catch. The black steel sits low and steady on that surface, not raised on legs that sink into lawn.
Once it is lit, the evening stops being about going inside. You stay out while the children stay in sight, and the ten-foot ring becomes the edge of the room. When the last person heads in, the fire goes out, and the table cools to black steel again, waiting for the next clear night.
A propane fire pit is an outdoor appliance. Keep it at least ten feet from the house or anything that can burn, keep children in sight while it is lit, and put it out before you go inside: that is the federal fire agency wording, and the carton instructions are the authority on the rest.

Super easy to assemble. The one cord underneath sticks up slightly so the grey panel on top does not lay perfectly flat. Also it did not come with the wind glass. Otherwise it’s beautiful, has different levels of flame, easy to use.
